NPS Medicinewise - Deprescribing Expert Working Group

The Consumers Health Forum (CHF) is currently seeking applications from consumer representatives who would like to contribute to the work of NPS Medicinewise.

What is the opportunity?

NPS MedicineWise is forming a new Expert Working Group, the Deprescribing Expert Working Group and has invited the Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF) to source consumer representation for their new Group.

Who are NPS MedicineWise?

NPS MedicineWise is an independent, not-for-profit and evidence-based organisation that aims to provide tools and information to support people to make the best decisions about their medicines and their health. More information on the work of NPS Medicinewise is available on their website.

What is the purpose?

The purpose of this Group is to provide advice to inform the design and development of the NPS MedicineWise deprescribing visiting program. Members of this group provide their expert advice to help better understand the issues, barriers and enablers of the program, offer guidance on clinical best practice, ensure key messages of the program) are relevant and advise on opportunities to share, partner or leverage activities.

The Deprescribing Expert Working Group will comprise 5-8 individuals with relevant experience in the area of interest, a practising GP, a GP with a special interest in the topic area, relevant specialist/s, a consumer representative, a general practice nurse or nurse practitioner, a practice manager, a community or accredited pharmacist, and other allied health professional/s.

What will the work be?

The work will consist of one face to face full day workshop in Sydney on 25 October 2017, plus out of session work via email as needed. Consumer representation is supported with the payment of sitting fees and coverage of travel expenses.

Interested consumer health representatives should:

  • Complete a CHF nomination form available online at
  • Your nomination form should be accompanied by a letter of endorsement
  • Attach a short CV in pdf format
