SMPCP consumer engagement co-design project

What was the project about?

Develop a program to engage with consumers and community groups in the Southern Melbourne Primary Care Partnership (SMPCP) catchment area (the Local Government areas of the City of Port Phillip, City of Stonnington, City of Glen Eira, City of Bayside and the City of Kingston). The program aimed, firstly, at providing information and creating awareness in the community of the process to develop the 2017-2021 Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP) and the Integrated Health Promotion Plan (IHPP) for the catchment.  Secondly, to hear about the needs and interests of community members in relation to health and wellbeing that could be included in these plans. Thirdly, to establish connections with these consumer and community groups and register their potential interest in being engaged with the SMPCP and its partner agencies in the future.

Who did we partner with?

Southern Melbourne Primary Care Partnership (SMPCP) and the Southern Melbourne Primary Care Partnership Community Consumer Collaboration Group (SMPCP CCCG)

How did we go about it?

In collaboration with members of the Community Consumer Collaboration Group, we held a series of meetings to prepare for consultations with community groups in the catchment area. We develop an information pack to take to the consultations with groups. We designed and undertook an electronic survey to gather information from community members across the catchment and prepared a report with the findings.

What are we going to do?

In collaboration with CCCG members, we will:

  • organise and co-facilitate two community forums,
  • visit up to eight community groups and,
  • distribute an online survey using the PCP networks.

Using the information collected through these consultations, provide a report to the Primary Care Partnership Steering Committee for inclusion into the development of the 2017-2021 Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and the Integrated Health Promotion Plan.

What was achieved?

The information obtained through these consultations was provided to the PCP Steering Committee to add to their consultation for the development of the2017-2021 Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP) and the Integrated Health Promotion Plan (IHPP).

When did we do the project?

Between July 2016 and February 2017.
