Kyabram District Health Service
Using the CARE Model to engage and involve individuals, groups and communities who are often less represented
About the project
Kyabram District Health Service (KDHS) used their Conversation and Reflective Experience (CARE) Model with individuals and community groups to have consumers share their health care experiences. KDHS offered consumers the opportunity to be involved in the co-design of the sustainable consumer engagement model.
In undertaking a project that aims to incorporate the consumer experience into healthcare improvements, it is hoped that all consumer experiences will be the best they can be.
KDHS will use the CARE Model to engage and involve individuals, groups and communities who are often less represented. The project will be supported by the Kyabram Community and Learning Centre, which includes the Kyabram Neighbourhood House, the KDHS Aboriginal Health Community Engagement Committee and the KDHS Community and Culture Governance Committee.
Danny Vadasz, CEO of Health Issues Centre hopes that “the project will build the capacity of staff to recognise the consumer and an actively engaged healthcare participant and to facilitate and support their participation in health system improvements.”
