Primary Health Care Advisory Group
As you may know Australia's health system is under increasing pressure to provide better quality, affordable and accessible health care. Last month, the Commonwealth Governmen established the Primary Health Care Advisory Group (PHCAG).
The Group aims to:
- offer a better patient journey for those with complex and chronic health conditions
- investigate innovative care and funding models
- better recognise and treat mental health conditions
- facilitate greater connection between primary health care and hospital care
The Group will be informed by national and international research and experiences. More importantly, there will be opportunities for health consumers, stakeholders and health professionals to shape their recommendations for primary health care reform.
The Group will be led by Dr Steve Hambleton, the pat president of the Australian Medical Association and a practising general practitioner.
