Reviewing an information booklet with consumers

What was the project about?

Doutta Galla Community Health Service had produced a booklet describing a newly launched model of care. They wanted to know if the booklet was user-friendly and if the language was appropriate to expected service users.
We designed and ran a consultation process around the style, structure and content of the booklet.

Who did we partner with?

Doutta Galla Community Health Service

How did we go about it?

We discussed the ‘Model of Care 2011’ booklet with users of:

  • mental health services
  • physiotherapy services
  • senior citizens attending a day activity centre
  • Mandarin-speaking senior citizens from a diabetes support group

Copies of the booklet were used to prompt discussion among participants. They were encouraged to make comments in their booklets. All discussions were digitally recorded for accuracy and a project member took notes.

What was achieved?

We provided Doutta Galla with a series of recommendations to help them in their revision of the, Model of Care booklet.

Feedback from Doutta Galla manager:

"Thank you for a sensational job. I think it gives us very real, frank and fearless feedback and shows plenty of room for improvement. [We] appreciate very much your excellent standard of work."

When did we do the project?

May – July 2013
