Announcing Mercy Health’s Consumer Conference 2015

The conference is the first time Consumer Advisors will meet on their own terms. We hope this will create a state-wide (potentially national) network of sharing and support for consumers (both current and potential advisors). As a result of the conference and the conversations shared throughout the day, lessons learnt about what it means to be a Consumer Advisor will be compiled in a report and shared across health services, government and decision makers. We hope this first conference will be one of many run bi-annually by a collaboration of health services.

The day will be filled with lessons, insights and practical advice from Consumer Advisors. Consumer Advisors from all across Victoria are invited to speak at the conference and share their experience. The keynote speaker for the event is Tracy Bartram. Tracy has endured a lifetime of food intolerances and is passionate about helping people improve their health & lives.  Her latest show on free TV channel 7two is The Intolerant Cooks, Australia’s newest travel cooking series that explores solutions for those with food sensitivities.

The Founder of the conference is Consumer Advisor, Marianne Mahony, Chair of the Mercy Health Community Advisory Group. As a passionate advocate for person-centered health care, Marianne had an idea to hold a conference. This stemmed from her own search for other Consumer Advisors, as Marianne states ‘Being an advisor for several years I had been searching for a forum where I could learn from others and talk about what’s most important to consumer representatives’.

Marianne approached Mercy Health to host the conference. Mercy Health partnered with the Health Issues Centre to get the day organised. Supporters of the conference include Hive OrganisationInteract Hub and others.

Registrations are now open. To register or to view the conference program please go to the conference website.
